Nick Caccavela, Industry Representative

Nick Caccavela has served as Senior Vice President at Holcim (Canada) Inc., a leading aggregate company in Canada, since 2009.  Mr. Caccavela has acted in various roles in the construction and aggregate industries since 1986. He has a Masters of Business Administration from the Ivey School of Business (University of Western Ontario).

Nick was directly responsible for changing the specifications for Granular A road-base aggregate.  Working with the engineering community and conducting extensive third-party tests he showcased that the Modified Granular A, which used less virgin aggregate materials, delivered the same performance and met industry specifications.   Nick has led an initiative at Holcim (Canada) Inc. supporting changes in the aggregate gradation specifications in the Canadian Concrete and Aggregates Standards.  Developed in cooperation with the University of Toronto these changes will allow for the use of virgin by products, while enhancing the performance of concrete.

In addition to his professional achievements Nick is a big supporter of University of Toronto’s Professional Experience Year (PEY) internship program. He fosters the spirit of mentorship so students can derive maximum value from their on-the-job learning and rotation program and gain exposure to all aspects of the business.
